9.50-10.30: Salon of honor:  Video presentation of the selected student teams

10.30-12: Sala delle colonne: Student demontration (all delegates can vote)

Workshop on Sustainability and Resilience for the territories and cultural heritage



Opening lecture: Practical application of dryer modelling and process understanding in pharmaceuticals and related industries by Ian Kemp (GlaxoSmithKline, UK)

A few keynote lectures are scheduled by leading scientists from Academia and Industry.

Sessions are planned on the following topics:

•             Fundamentals of drying

•             Modelling and simulation 

•             Food and agricultural materials

•             Pharmaceutical and biomaterials

•             Measurements and process control

•             Industrial processes and equipment and Innovative technologies

New: Drying in art and for the Cultural Heritage protection (see program) 

Following the positive experience of previous EuroDrying Conference, a Special Industrial Session and a Round table discussion will be organised.

Poster sessions will cover also other topics: Chemical and polymer materials; Physical properties; Energy and environmental implications.

The first EFCE Excellence Award in Drying & Freeze-drying ( will be presented at the 7th European Symposium to be held in Torino, sponsored by Criofarma.


The EFCE presents a biennial Excellence Award to recognise a PhD thesis published in the preceding three-year period. The award is presented to researchers or engineers in the early stage of their careers, who have made excellent contributions to Drying & Freeze-drying in the process industries.

PhD theses published between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2018 may be nominated for evaluation, with a closing date of 31 March 2019.

Nominations may be submitted by:

  • PhD supervisors at a PhD-awarding institution in an EFCE member country, or
  • Members of a national or regional member association of EFCE

 The  best  poster will be awarded by Danone   Nutricia Research, continuing the tradition   from previous EuroDrying conferences.
